We are expecting another 101 degree day. We were having temps like this in June and July and have only rarely gone below 100 during the day. It takes its toll - ask Diana and Erin. My tomato plants look so healthy and I water them everyday, but they have pretty much told me it is too hot to give me any presents.
Yet in my mind I am trying to adjust to the fact that this may be how it is every summer and be cheerful about it. There is no doubt that I have gotten more used to the temp and do more things outside than I did two months ago, but I will be happy when the temperatures go down again. We have gone back to having dinner on the porch, but with as few clothes on as we can decently get by with. I worked on my stepping stone Saturday morning for about 1 1/2 hours and was really glad to get inside for awhile. A friend and I did some cactus shopping on Saturday and I had to watch to make sure she came back out of the greenhouse because it was probably about 120 degrees in there.
What is it like where you all are (am I punishing myself by asking)? I know I could look on the weather map, but that doesn't tell me what you do outside and how it feels. Sailing? Ahhh. Just the thought of it cools me down and makes me happy.

Here it is about 70 but hot.. Radiated temperatures. I am debating the lake or swimming laps. Steph has me thinking the lake. It is cool..
ReplyDeleteWe actually had two swimmers jump in a glacier lake yesterday at 40 degrees. One died. The other is critical.
We also had a woman who was feeding bears with cheap dog food. The bear ate the woman (83 year-old but they are not sure she did not die of stroke first) instead. It is only the third bear attack that was fatal in Colorado in 20 years they said.
I have to clean a yellow jacket nest out from my back light. We do fear them but these seem to be passive.
Kelly gets the kudos today for getting my storage shed on the road with a friend. Less and less I am Louisianan.
He got your storage shed on the road. Cool. Did you like weld an axle to the shed, but tires on and give it a push? What happens when it has to go up hill? Okay. I'm being silly. It's the heat. I blame it on the heat.
ReplyDeleteYes we welded the storage shed on an axle and sent it west. I told Rosalie as we were finishing that a certain small desk alledged to have belonged to Cynthia would fit exactly in a space in the horse trailor. She ask how I knew. I replied, "I have moved that same desk 830 times for various family members". Yes and I did look in the top of the center drawer to see if the name of one of Mothers former high school sweeties was still writen on the edge. It was. It was hot and humid but the catfish and shrimp poboys at the resturant next door were worth the cost of admission.
ReplyDeleteAh, I can see the desk now - and would like to taste the shrimp poboy now :-).
