Memory and The New Yorker

There is a great article in this week's New Yorker Jan 25 called the Dime Store Floor (p. 33) about smell and memory of youth... I suggest photos and songs also trigger memories of the archetypals in our memories..

These are two images I am getting ready for a local show. That's my easy-going morning activities.

For all those who called themselves "ain'ts"
Get on the bandwagon of Saints
Get the bags off your heads
Get off the strong meds
We don't need to hear your complaints

It's off to Miami we go
with Reggie and Drew and big "Mo'
The Vikings, pretenders
we'll swamp their defenders
alas, our birthright,we crow.

MIA - boy, what a blogger I am

I can't believe it is the middle of January 2010. The holiday break was great, but it has been none stop since then.

We have been working on paperwork to get our garage started - I don't remember having to sign so many papers just to get some money. And we are getting a really good deal. We only have to pay interest for the first 5 years and then they will give us a new interest rate that will only make the payments 2 times our income. Just kidding.

I missed seeing everyone during the holidays, but it was good for Jack and me to stay home and goof off. I, for one, just have not been goofing off enough the last few years.

I hope everyone is recovering from the cold snap. At first I was worried about our pipes, but then I went under the house on one of the days it was in the low 20s and all was fine.

So once again I am resolved to get healthier, play more music, and slow down. Of course I have not actually started moving toward those goals, but I will ... I will ... tomorrow I'll start. Really.

Glad to be #100

New year's greetings!
Dave and Otis at their new Baby Grand!

Attached is a photo to indicate what the future looks like. Enjoyed seeing Dave Brubeck and others on the Kennedy awards the other night. Maybe Dave can teach Otis Take Five as part of his repertoire. Good visit with the Knoxvillians, the Africans, the Atlantians and the son of Gunisson. Missed seeing the Marblefallians.
One of the St.Francisvillians.
