This Friday's art crawl here brought a connective moment.
Remember Dole Reed, the artist of whom Mimi and Mother Bernice had lots of work? Well I went to this art show and met a water color artist named Stephen Quiller. He had about twenty beautiful water colors on the wall and they kept jarring my visual memory. Here is one.
I immediately thought of Dole Reed as I walked around the room. I asked a few artists if they had ever heard of Dole Reed, even the chair of the art department here.
None had heard of him.
Then I ask Quiller. His eyes lit up and he said, "He was my mentor.. my boyhood inspiration." So guess what we talked about. I really loved his water colors and if you want to see more, check out his site.
Stephen Quiller
He is also a connoisseur of Reed and can appraise them if any one out there has that need.
