Just kidding. But what did we do on Labor Day? Anything special? I remember 4th of July - I liked the snakes. Did not like sparklers - I could go on and on about why.
On another note, I was trying to think of all the songs we sang with Daddy Harry. We joke about only being taught "It was Saturday Evening," the Kappa Sig song, "John Jacob Jingle Heimer Schmidt," and "Three Little Mice," but we actually did sing other songs. "She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain" "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" "Red River Valley" "There's a Hole in the Bucket" But what were some of the others?
And did we sing at Mimi and Papa's? I remember picking out songs on the piano. Exodus! Bum, bum. Bum, bum. Bum, bum, bu , bumm, bum-bum. Heart and Soul.

I think oyu got most of them. I remember listening to songs at the Glover's more --Ghost Riders in the Sky, Mule Train, old Spile Jones albums, etc.
ReplyDeleteAs we rode through Africa, Tate, Tucker and I sang John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith and She'll be coming around the mountain. I did not teach them "The lady in Red". I will wait until they can appeciate the irony of the classist, sexist ballad that shaped our youth.
