Etremely Loud, Incredibily Good

I just watched the film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close--- one of the great movies of the decade to me. Tense, on the edge of my seat, soulful, mournful but real in an unreal way. If anyone goes, or has already gone, I would like your take on it. it is very unique... yet predictably not predictable.

Take your hankies..

Hello out there?

Hope everyone had a good holiday.  We had a nice visit with Diana and Brad.  They were in town for some sort of party having to do with a sporting event that took place in New Orleans that we will never reference again. Can you get to eastern Tennessee without going through Alabama?

Shrimp Orleans

Two recipes from mother's Own Hands: Shrimp Orleans

Recipes-Pork Chops al la lea

From Mother's own Handwriting. Pork Chops .
Kelly inspired me to put these on the blog.. well Steph too.
Diana says be sure to get 'fatty' pork chops... lean pork chops do not work for that truly nostalgia flavor of Lonita Street.

Snow.. 2011

I know adding snow pix from a guy in Colorado could get old s i will only do this on the very first fluffy snow where I got my best shots. this snow reminded me of the one at Daddy Harry's back in college when it snowed on Christmas Eve..

Big, fluffy, wet flakes covering everything... All just outside my door.

So Steph, have a recipe for snow ice cream!!

Aniseed Cookies

I made aniseed cookies this weekend for a cookie exchange today. I was transported to many different places - Mother B.'s kitchen, the kitchen on Lolita, and to all of your houses. Funny thing about memories. These are not the fanciest cookies and many people pass them over for more decadent cookies, but they are my very favorite and I would rather have them then any other.

Happy Holidays!

Kind of like kumquats :-).
