A Sunday hike-Black Canyon May 22, 2011

My Sunday walk/ hike included the top of the Black Canyon where you can see in all four directions for about 30-60 miles.


Of course I see dragons in the dried pinons.

The dry flattop mesa with the city behind it.. that is Montrose where I live.

The bottom and mountains are the West Elk range towards Crested Butte
My hike was about two miles. The very bottom is the Black Canyon. It drops about 2,000 ft. in some places.

Pirates at Midnight or irates..

I went to Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides last night. Kids showed up in pirate garb and the theater was full of arrrghhh.. and There be dragons.. etc..

The movie was interesting.. it will get a lot of negatives but something about it was like the second Star Wars movie.. dark and different but like a prelude to the next one..

I have become a Geoffrey Rush junkie too.. my favorite actor in major minor roles.

I was not either irate or asleep after midnight when it ended..

and as usual----- watch past the credits for a great little cameo

I am just checking in. We had rain and snow around here last night but not much. temps vary from 28 to 78 on some days. Everyone thinks it is weird weather.
I am just reading The Tao te Ching again for the fun of it and working on mindful meditations. and Photoshop HRD ..(left brain and right brain stuff...)

We had rain yesterday

I think the blog was experiencing the doldrums or something because I had a fairly long post yesterday with a weather map and I know it was there and now it is gone. But we got some rain.

Rain

I know that is a dirty word many places about now, but we were so happy to see it here in Central Texas. And boy did it rain for a few hours. It may not be done yet. I would have taken pictures of it but it was too dark for my phone to take any good pictures. Weather map shows it is moving out of the area, but we still have lightning and thunder so I'm not so sure they are right.

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

Back in Sville, I had a great time in Berlin and the other places we visited. Fun to be there; good to be back. I would post pictures but Tanya and Toby did a great job of giving a good photo representation of our travels at tatesworld.com website. As I mentioned in a comment on another post, I am interested in the Irene geneology if anyone has a copy. Later.

Just saying hello. I think Kelly is still in Berlin-ish. Don't know where Diana is - Brad is retired and they may have taken off on a jaunt? I guess Phil is in Colorado.

And I am in Texas. It was in the high 90s last week and now we have our heater back on - 48 degrees last night. 52 degrees right now. Wacky weather.
