Laissez les bon temps roulez!!

A colleague who is from New Orleans and I were just lamenting that we have to work today. We both remember not working or going to school on Mardi Gras!

I also remember one Mardi Gras morning when Al Holland and I got up early, started a small campfire in the back yard, and cooked breakfast - until Richard looked out the window and thought the woods were on fire. I don't think he actually called the fire department, but he was not a happy camper - (campfire, camper, harrrr harrr harr!)

I also remember being down on Canal Street catching beads and candy and staring at the costumes. I must have been about 10 or 11 the first time. Really, I was that young once!

The Fit's name is Mei

The sun finally came out today and maybe I can take a picture of Mei for you soon. Mei means beauty, resilience, little (as in like a sprout), and I think she will be a really good little car for me. I found out this morning that she hums sometimes when she is driving down the highway. And it's a nice little tune, too.

We made our reservations for Godzilla Fest in July, so we will be on our way to Chicago via Route 66 come July 4. We will take Allison, the Miata, so that we can have the top down and cruise with the sun on our faces.

But that is later and I need to take care of now today, so on to education type stuff.

Later.

Who Dat nation celebrates.

People are nuts around here celebrating the Saints victory. The bandwagon was so overloaded that the springs broke...Mardi Gras got co-opted...no one went to work today...LSU foodball is on the back burner... everyone is suddenly related to the team in some degree...King cakes are made in the design of a Fleur-de-lis...people greet each other on the street with "Who Dat"...we are thinking about selling everything and moving to NOLA to be close to the action...life is good!

I was telling Phil that we were more than disappointed in the half-time performance of the Who; I ask "Who dat booked the Who for the half-time show" They were a little over the hill. If I had wanted to see an act that bad I would have gone to a river boat casino. Bring back Janet Jackson Breast! Who dat?!

LIttle red fit

I have a new (slightly used) car - a little red Honda Fit. I picked her up last night and even driving in the rain, in the dark, tired, in a car I didn't know, it felt really good so I think it will be "a good fit." I am not positive what her name is yet, but I think I know. I will let you know as soon as I am sure.

Tomorrow I am putting the finishing touches on our garage plans and then marching down to City Hall to turn it in. Then we wait - and I don't know how long we wait, but I hope it is not too long. I am ready to get this project started.

Hope everyone is well out there.

The more I slow down, the more I get busier ????

Had a cold last week (still have it but better) so that slowed me down some. I am looking for a new (used) car this week because Bubbles, the car I was driving, decided to call it quits. I get to make the rounds starting this afternoon. Deciding on a new car is always stressful for me. Oh well.

We are getting closer to getting our garage started. I have to do some stuff with the plans and then go down to City Hall and submit them to the planning committee - and then wait :-).

That's about it for now. I will let you know what kind of car I end up with - and the name - once I find it.
